Raul Duarte Salgueiral Gomes Campilho is a Permanent Associate Professor with Habilitation at ISEP – School of Engineering, Porto, Portugal, specializing in Applied Mechanics. He holds a PhD with distinction and a Habilitation in Mechanical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (FEUP). Since entering higher education teaching in 2003, Dr. Campilho has extensive pedagogical experience, covering subjects such as the Finite Element Method, Mechanics of Materials, Machine Design, and Industrial Automation. He has supervised 9 PhD, 306 MSc, and 52 BSc theses. An active researcher, he serves as Sub-director of CIDEM (Centre for Research & Development in Mechanical Engineering) and Editor-in-Chief of the Academia Materials Science Journal. His scholarly output includes publishing 470 papers in leading indexed journals, authoring or editing 62 books and 202 book chapters, and presenting over 1,000 conference papers globally. His research focuses on fracture mechanics, advanced strength prediction of composites, structural adhesive joints, and machine design. In addition to participating in 8 funded European and national research projects, Dr. Campilho has served on 450 scientific committees, organized 10 international conferences, and held key administrative roles, including directing degree programs at ULP and ISEP.
